Screen-printed booklet spreads on their way.

For the past two weeks, I have been preparing and printing a double sided, 6 spread, hand screen-printed booklet to document my drawings as part of a project based around the theme of Voracious Consumerism. The book is not ready yet, but when it is up there will be a flick-through digital version for you all to have a look at. Most of the imagery has been taken from a unfortunate trip to Oxford St on Boxing Day of last year and from items of second hand consumables at Deptford Market.

Complicated Systems

Okay, so its got to the point now where I might as well have not been even considering owning a blog, as the last time I posted anything was last November (shun). However, the blogging has re-booted, and from now on I vow to keep everyone visually updated on what I am up to.

I have been up to quite a lot since my last post, and with the once dreaded dissertation being finally handed in at the end of last November, I was itching to get stuck into producing lots of hands-on visual work.

Rather than blast you all with hoard of posts, I shall edge them in gently, project by project.

This particular project  was a response to the complexity and lack of common sense and necessity of many systems put in place in our current society. I was inspired by sources such as the militant attitude of the rules of health and safety, the supposed simple and cost-effective energy saving systems employed by british energy companies and inefficient electronic building management systems. These systems are intended to be there to be beneficial but in the end prove to make life ridiculously complicated and frustrating without any clear success of the intended outcome.

By taking visual inspiration from odd machines, mass cabling, meat mincers and using fruit and vegetables as a means of producing electricity, I have created a series of functional images which is appears confusing and complicated but performs a simple task at the end.

.Cent Magazine

Wow, it has been so long since I last posted anything. As with all 3rd Year Graphics students at CSM, my dissertation has been taking over my life for the last 9 months, and finally, as off last Tuesday, the pain is all over. Although there is a bit of post-traumatic-dissertation-disorder that seems to have settled in amongst a number of us and the 'get up an go' attitude that most us usually have seems to have subsided just a little.

But anyway, I have been meaning to post these illustrations on here for ages. During the summer I was asked by .Cent Magazine to produce some illustrations for The Timeless Issue on an article about Shakespeare adaptations. Here they are. Enjoy. x

Souvenir Stamp Kits

Souvenir Stamp Boxes and Wrapping Paper at the CSM Pop-Up Shop

Mexico

Hawaii

Germany

Sweden

In collaboration with Steph Hartman, these stamp kits were part of the POP-UP Shop (part of the Off-Sight exhibition) held by second year CSM BA Graphic Design students last month. Our idea was to produce a set of souvenir stamp kits, each representing images associated with their particular county. We wanted it to be fun, so we included a selection of quite absurd images including Abba, sausages, men in hula skirts and mexican shrines. The patterns created for the stamp-box's packaging doubled-up as wrapping paper designs, which were also on display.

We intend on taking this project further over the summer months, so look out for some screen prints which are on their way.

All packaging, stamps and wrapping have been hand made.

All have sold out except for Germany, so please contact me if your interested in buying it.

Paranoiac Journey

A narrative journey based on the paranoias of a young child when its time for bed. The images depict scenes of imagined ghouls lurking in the darkness, spying curtains and defence measures.
